Routes to Membership:

Membership to the Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators register can be made via Route A or Route B.

Route A:

Applications to the Institute of Buccal Midazolam via Route A must have successfully completed the Guardian Angels’ Level 4 Award in Epilepsy and Buccal Midazolam Instruction.
Upon successful completion of the Level 4 Award in Epilepsy and Buccal Midazolam Instruction, Guardian Angels will register your membership automatically for a period of 3 years.
The Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators member will be required to complete a refresher course every 3 years to maintain their membership and entry onto the register.

Route B:

Applications to the Institute of Buccal Midazolam via Route B must be able to demonstrate the following:

Professional occupational competency (examples include registered healthcare professionals with occupational experience of neurology)
Teaching competency (examples include recognized teaching qualifications)
Applications are considered on individual merit and take the form of an application for Recognition of Prior Learning and Experience
Membership to the Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators register will always refer to industry standards.

Reference will be made to the Epilepsy Nurses Association (ESNA) “Best practice guidelines for training professional carer’s in the administration of Buccal (Oromucosal) Midazolam for the treatment of prolonged and / or clusters

Grades of Membership:

The Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators has three grades of membership

Chartered

Membership is the regular grade for those qualified and working in the profession. Chartered members display the designation “CBME”

Fellowship

Membership is the senior grade awarded in recognition of academic achievement. Fellow members display the designation “FBME”

Honorary

Membership is awarded to persons who have supported or given valuable service to the Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators. Honorary members display the designation “HBME”
