About Us

The Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators is a non-profit professional association for Epilepsy and Buccal Midazolam Educators.  

Unlike other “associations”, membership to the Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators is free.

Founded by Epilepsy and Buccal Midazolam Educators, the Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators is the only non-profit membership association for those training in pre-hospital epilepsy care and the administration of buccal midazolam.

By joining the Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educations, trainers, educators, facilitators, training providers, care providers, charitable trusts and professional bodies will be able to demonstrate to existing and potential customers, staff members, regulating and inspecting bodies that the way they operate and conduct themselves with regard to training pre-hospital epilepsy care and the administration of buccal midazolam is in line with a code of ethics, industry standards and best practice.  

The Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators provides a Code of Ethics and all our members have a responsibility to ensure they remain competent, compliant and act ethically.

Code of Ethics and conditions of Membership

Registrant members agree to follow the follow:

  1. Members shall comply with the laws, standards and regulations appertaining to their training courses
  2. Members shall be familiar with the applicable legislation, standards and regulations appertaining to a specific healthcare/social care training course
  3. Members shall respect the rights, welfare, and dignity of all participants
  4. Members shall not discriminate against any participant
  5. Members must be committed to providing competent training to all participants
  6. Members must treat as confidential all information learned in the performance of their professional duties, while observing relevant requirements regarding disclosure. i.e., where it is considered that an adult/child may be at risk of abuse
  7. Members shall maintain and promote high standards in their training course delivery
  8. Members shall not misrepresent, either directly or indirectly, their skills, training, professional credentials, or identity
  9. Members shall provide only those courses for which they are qualified through education or experience as approved by an accredited body
  10. Members shall recognize the need for continuing education and participate in educational activities that enhance their skills and knowledge
  11. Members shall not engage in conduct that could be construed as a conflict of interest or that reflects negatively on their accreditation
  12. Members must conduct themselves personally and professionally in a manner that does not compromise their professional responsibilities
  13. Members must strive to maintain impartiality and refrain from counselling, advising, or projecting personal biases or beliefs
  14. Members must maintain the boundaries of the professional role, refraining from personal involvement
  15. Members must always act in a professional and ethical manner
  16. Members must work in a collaborative and consultative manner to reflect high quality delivery and best practice to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and regulations.
  17. Members must deliver, evaluate, record and review training that evidence’s competency-based learning including underpinning knowledge and skills
  18. Members must deliver training to meet a diverse range of learners and to design and deliver training that motivates learners to aspire and achieve to deliver quality services to people in their care

Members must review and update relevant programmes in order that regulatory and business requirements are fully met.

The IMBE and members are agreeing to the following:

  1. Membership is valid for a period of 3 years or until terminated by either party
  2. Membership information provided to the Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators has been authorised to publish
  3. The Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators information must not be collected, sold, or passed onto any third parties
  4. All parties will be committed to the Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators Code of Ethics
  5. The Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators have the right to refuse and withdraw membership
  6. The Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators will notify members of any changes to the Code of Ethics or Conditions of Membership
  7. Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators membership does not provide an endorsement that any training delivered is accredited or approved

The Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators Member logo can be used on websites, stationery, promotional materials, training resources and certificates where it demonstrates that the Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators Code of Ethics are being used

If you feel that an Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators member has not complied with the Institute of Buccal Midazolam Educators Code of Ethics, please contact us giving full details of how and where the Code of Ethics have not been complied with.
